From Manyeleti Reserve we drove to Graskop, a beautiful drive through a lush green landscape, full of forests. From Graskop, its another 10 min drive to 'Zur alten Mine' which is on the road towards Pilgrim's Rest. Our chalet, the Honeymoon Chalet, had a lovely view over a pond full of fish and water lilies, with a little bench nearby for dreamers and poets who love to just sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. The chalet itself was very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were very happy to have an electric blanket as it was a very cold night. Breakfast at an extra charge is optional. The homemade bread and jams, made by the German owners, was well worth it...

Although we only stayed one night, we wish we could have stayed longer. Gorgeous, comfy cabins that are clean. Loved hearing the nature all day and night. Our cabin had a wonderful fireplace and heater in the bathroom which definitely came in handy. Short hikes around the property was a great stress reliever. This place is truly amazing...

We have been fortunate to stay at Zur Alten Mine a few times now, each time it has been an exceptional experience. The chalets are welcoming, comfortable and well laid out. The service is perfect and the hosts are very friendly and attentive. Very clean. The cookies add a special touch. Every time we have been here it's so hard to leave. It is beautiful and peaceful and has a lovely hiking trail.

This was our favorite stop on the recent road trip we took to Kruger and Blyde Canyon. We stayed there on our way back home. We would have happily stayed for longer. We were in number 3, which has a bedroom and loft area which was perfect for our kids. We enjoyed the hike to the old mine and along the river. The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations cozy, comfortable and well-provisioned. The homemade cookies were a nice touch. Very good value.

Safe, clean, they ensure you are warm and really went to alot of trouble to let us choose a place. The owner is friendly and helpful. We had a great stay and will be seeing you again! The cookies are jummy! Great mini braai at your door...

Such a lovely place and a nice warm welcome too! We stayed in a 4 bed cottage and it was so nice, a fireplace really was the cherry on top because it was cold, wet and misty when we arrived. A cozy cottage with a full kitchen and a nice clean bathroom, the whole place was neat and tidy and tastefully furnished. Unfortunately we were there for only one night but we did manage to do a forest walk the next morning and it was absolutely magical! Words cannot do justice to this beautiful place...

The details of our trip kept changing due to friends dropping out last minute, yet Rainer kept on doing his best to accommodate us. The unit where we stayed was clean, spacious and met all of our requirements. The property is large, so you feel a real sense of privacy in your own space. The grounds are well kept. There is a large indigenous forest with well marked trails on the property. I will definitely go back to stay there again!

We loved our week here! Rainer and Walli have created a beautiful oasis tucked away in the trees. From the immaculate, comfy cabin and lovely grounds, to restaurant tips and help organising our day trip to Kruger Park, we felt totally taken care of at Zur Alten Mine. It's a stone's throw from Graskop and ideally located to explore the Panorama Route. We will definitely be back!
